Gluten-Free Food Options at ACL 2010

September 27, 2010

It is never too early to start planning for ACL, especially when it comes to food. I go to ACL every year, and I know it can be a frightening experience to visit the Austin Eats Food Court when you have Celiac Disease. Luckily this year, there are more “gluten-free friendly” places to eat than ever. Always remember that Austin Eats Food Court is a fast paced, high volume environment with gluten being slung everywhere sometimes. Please be careful and know that eating at ACL with Celiac Disease increases your chance of cross-contamination. Want to skip the food court? Bring a doctor’s note if you have Celiac Disease and you can bring in your own food. I always sneak protein bars in my purse  😉

See you all at ACL!

There are going to be corn tortilla options this year? Hallelujah! I was so disappointed there weren’t any last year. I so wanted tacos. I’m glad there’s an actual variety to choose from. A vast improvement over last year’s selection. Now if only the alcohol choices were better. (A $6 cup of wine just doesn’t work…)
    Thanks for your hard work!

Thank you! Yes, last year was hard! I think I ate protein bars the whole time. I added some more items today, including tamales, so make sure and check them out! 🙂

Thanks Gretchen! I go to ACL every year and know how stressful it can be when everyone else is eating and I can’t have anything. I hope this list helps a lot of people. Looks like there are plenty of options to chose from this year 🙂

Thank you for compiling this list, Jessica.

I’m looking forward this year to enjoying something more than protein bars & watermelon which was my 2009 fare.
