About: Chef Jess

Hey y’all!

My name is Jessica Meyer and I am from Austin, Texas (some people call it The ATX). I have always been obsessed with food, but things started to click when my grandmother once taught me to make a medium rare steak, a homemade chop salad and a twice baked potato. Now that is a tasty combination! Ever since then, the cooking wheels in my head started to spin and I have been creating recipes ever since. My love of food has lead me on many adventures;  including becoming a personal trainer and linking food + fitness, majoring in my undergraduate degree (Nutrition Science), my current Master’s program (Human Nutrition Science.), my blog, and finally my new business venture- a Gluten-Free Personal Chef. I’m always interested in where my food comes from and how healthy food can benefit my body and long-term health. It’s my turn to share it with you.

My whole life, I remember having stomach issues. I was always in and out of the doctor. Each time the doctor would tell me I had IBS (It’s Bull S***). Finally, after graduating from college and taking my first job, things started to connect. I began working as a Nutritionist at a local pharmacy that promotes the gluten-free diet, and is also a gluten-free café/grocery. I became more aware of what Celiac disease entailed from working in that environment and began researching. I learned everything there was to know about Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivity; although it never really occurred to me that maybe I should get tested. I finally did, and here I am living a 100% gluten-free diet. Three years later, I have also lost 40 pounds and feel the best I have felt my entire life. I no longer live with those horrible stomach aches and migraines. I live a life now of JOY- joy that there are a variety of wonderful gluten-free foods out there. Joy, that I can now spread my love of these foods with my readers. I am here to help you along with your journey to living the wonderfully abundant gluten-free lifestyle.
